The problem

Sharing records for referrals, research or billing risks exposing patient identifiers. Visual redaction leaves those identifiers sitting in the file, recoverable by anyone who receives it.

How we handle it

  • Identifiers are deleted from the document rather than covered, so they can't be extracted from the copy you send.
  • Scanned charts and faxes are OCR-read so identifiers baked into the image are removed too.
  • Nothing is retained: documents are processed in memory and discarded within seconds.

Before you rely on it

We do not currently offer a Business Associate Agreement, and using this tool does not by itself make a workflow HIPAA-compliant. Assess it against your own obligations before sending PHI, and review every output before sharing.

Do you offer a BAA?

Not at present. If a BAA is required for your workflow, contact us before sending any PHI.

Is PHI stored on your servers?

No. Documents are processed in memory and discarded within seconds. We don't log contents or train on them.

Does it handle scanned charts and faxes?

Yes, via OCR. Note that heavily degraded faxes reduce OCR accuracy, and handwriting is not detected — review the output.
