Terms of Service

Last updated 7 August 2026.

1. Acceptance

By using the service you agree to these terms.

2. The service

FreePDFRedaction removes content you designate from PDF files. Plans and limits are described on the pricing page.

3. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for ensuring that you:

  • have the right to upload and redact each document you submit;
  • review every output before sharing it. Automatic detection finds well-formed patterns and the terms you supply; it cannot know everything in your document that may be sensitive, and it does not detect handwriting; and
  • satisfy yourself that the result meets whatever legal or regulatory obligations apply to you.

Redaction is permanent and cannot be undone. Keep your own copy of the original.

4. Accounts and payment

Sign-in is provided through Google. Paid plans are billed by Stripe. The 24-hour pass grants access for 24 hours from purchase and then expires; the monthly plan renews until cancelled. Refunds are covered by the refund policy. Prices are exclusive of any taxes that may apply.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use the service unlawfully, to process content you are not authorised to handle, to infringe others’ rights, to upload malware, or to disrupt, probe or reverse-engineer the service. Automated or high-volume access outside an agreed plan may be rate-limited or blocked.

6. Intellectual property

We own the service and its software. You own your documents and the redacted output. We claim no rights over your content.

7. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is”. We remove the content you designate, but we do not warrant that automatic detection will identify every instance of sensitive information in every document. You must verify each output before sharing it.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to [the greater of the amount you paid in the preceding [3/12] months, or [amount] — set with counsel]. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the service or the documents you process with it.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms.

11. Governing law

[Jurisdiction — to be completed.]

12. Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. Contact: jmcelvanna@gmail.com.
